1937 Stromberg-Carlson Model 231-R, Chairside Radio. Made in Rochester, NY.
Stromberg-Carlson radios are known for their heavy duty construction, Art Deco design, and reliable performance. This “Half Round” chair side has a “Zephyr” style cabinet and smoked glass mirror top.
Produced in 1937, this seven tube chair side has the original 10-inch speaker, knobs and dial scale. The glass mirror is almost perfect. The cabinet has been restored and finished with several coates of lacquer, and new labeling.
The electrolytic and paper capacitors have been replaced. A new power cord and grille cloth (not original) have been added, along with casters for easy movement.
Radio is fully operational and tunes into AM stations. It also has the ability to be bluetooth enabled for an extra charge.
Measures 25”W x 23.5”T x 16.25”D.
Sold new in 1937 for $145.00.
Note: the “Magic Eye” tube (which shows on the dial) is bright, however inside the chassis, the tube socket was broken (a repair was made) and the tuning “V” is not operational.
